NEEDLE FELT
The production of needle felts occurs in a multi-step process. Here fiber mixtures are first created from which thin layers of parallel-aligned fibers, known as fleece, are created. Depending on the needs, they are superimposed over each other several times and needled. Special needles penetrate the fiber layers and re-arrange the aligned fibers. A high level of compaction results. This occurs automatically by mechanical means without the addition of adhesives or thermal melting of the fibers.
